Instructions to the Contractors

The procedure followed is generally the same as described in the section above. A work order book is maintained on the site of works. Instructions given to the Contractor are recorded in the Work Order Book. Contractor or his authorised representative has to sign the work order in the acknowledgement  of receipt of the instruction. 

The owner's Engineer takes out three copies of the instruction / work order. One copy is sent to the Contractor's office, one copy is sent to the owner's  office and one copy is retained by the Engineer in his office file. This precaution is necessary as a safeguard'against any possible displacement of the work order book.
