Artificial Seasoning

Following are the reasons for adopting artificial seasoning to natural seasoning.
  1. Defects such as shrinkage, cracking and warping are minimised. 
  2. Drying is controlled and there are practically no chances for the attack of fungi and insects. 
  3. Drying of different surfaces is even and uniform. 
  4. It considerably reduces the period of seasoning. 
  5. There is better control of circulation of air, humidity and temperature. 
  6. Wood becomes more suitable for painting, gluing, etc. 
  7. Wood with desired moisture content may be obtained by artificial seasoning. 
Various methods of artificial seasoning are as follows:
  1. Boiling 
  2. Chemical seasoning 
  3. Electrical seasoning 
  4. Kiln seasoning 
  5. Water seasoning.
