White Washing, Distemper, Painting and Glazing

White Wash and Distemper

  1. See that lime in unslaked is brought to site.
  2. See that lime is properly slaked and adequate quantity of gun solution is added.
  3. In case of wash, apply a small sample and let it dry to ensure that uniform and correct colour has been obtained.
  4. See that white/colour wash is  of proper  creamy  consistency  and not too thin.
  5. See that nail holes and patches  in  walls are repaired before applying whiteboard wash.
  6. See that proper hair  brushes are used for internal white/colour washing if spray machines are not available.
  7. Remove all loops in layers of whiteboard wash before  applying fresh coats.
  8. Rub surface to see that wash is reasonably fast, the colour is even and reject any surface that 'blows'.
  9. Pass  each coat separately before next  coat is applied and record in the works-passing-register.
  10. See that the white/colour wash splashes have been removed  from glass, joinery, dado, skirting, floors, sanitary fittings and electric fittings and so on before the buildings  are taken over. Splashes should be removed immediately otherwise it becomes harder to do so.
  11. Disenfranchisement-base paint will not be applied over lime washed surfaces.
  12. In case of non-washable distemper see that the various ingredients are correctly  mixed  as specified. Ready mixed distemper is preferable.
  13. In  case of washable distemper, ensure that the  material is obtained in sealed containers from approved manufacturer licenced by ISI and that manufacturer's instructions are followed in the preparation and application.
  14. Distemper shall be  applied with hair  brushes.
  15. In case where other decorative finishes like water proof cement paint, oil bound paint and such other similar finishes are specified, carry out the work as per manufacturer's  instructions and as specified.
