Reasons for Planning

  • Planning provides direction to managers efforts. 
  • Planning provides parameters to assess performance of individual, group an organisation. 
  • Planning reduces risk and uncertainty. 
  • It facilitates coordination between different units of company. 
  • Planning is known as beguiling of mismanagement process. Before you can get an opportunity to organise and control, you have to plan your activities. 
Basic steps in Planning are as follows : 
  • The. first step is to decide what are the goals which are to be achieved. 
  • The second step is to analyse strengthen and weaknesses of the organisation. What are the resources organisation is having. What are resources organisational is not having. Similarly. managers have: to analyse environmental. What conditions in the environment will facilitate goal achievement. This analysis is known as SWOT analysis.  i.e. anal using strength. weakness, opportunity and threat. 
  • The last step is to develop an effective plan for reaching goals, At this moment it is necessary to find out set of alternatives  which can meet the goals. Each alternative should be evaluated and then one which is suitable to meet the goals can he selected.

  1. Good points for construction management. I own a small construction company. We don't do a lot of jobs and most of our jobs are pretty small. We are starting to get bigger though and have been thinking about hiring a construction manager. It sounds like it would be a good way to make sure we stay on track.
