Transforming and Renewing Organisation

India's industrial and economic sector has progressed significantly in the last eight years, i.e since 1991 due to the numerous changes in the domestic business environment. The original socialist policies, initiated in the early 1950s, characterized by the development of the core sector by the government, the growth of ancillaries/derivative industries in a protectionist environment, and the nationalization of essential industries have now been superseded by a more capitalist outlook. This liberalisation of the economy over the past few years can be seen in the increased privatisation of industry, entry of foreign investors and convertibility of the Indian rupee.

This has lead to a new and hitherto nonexistent scenario. To cope with this change organisations will need to restructure and redesign their existing operations. While the realisation that change is imperative has dawned amongst most Indian entrepreneural companies; a clear blueprint for change seems to be wanting in many. From the available literature on organisation transformation and from the experience of the concerned professionals, a methodology for change and organisational dynamics has been outlined.
