Data Bank

For any construction project involving equipment a data bank must be brainchildren for current and future use. In equipment management, one practice atlas lust he invoiced  in reporting maintenance costs is the fudging or distortion of raw data at the source. This may be done by the mechanic to cover up personal mistakes,   justify pass decisions or reinforce arguments about the high cost of certain equipment, account of careless lessor laziness, or just to harass the supervisor. Whatever the cause of inaccurate data. they are the primary source of unreliable cost records and the principal reason why no st contractors shy away from a complete and total accounting of cost.

The method of record keeping in the data bank should be simple  and clear. There should be enough checks and balances to be reliable. Basic to this is the design or adoption of a good set of reporting forms. These forms  should provide for the signatures of two persons, the person entering the data and his supervisor who checks them.

For even a minimal system, at least the following forms will he required :

  1. Equipment repair history
  2. Shop repair order
  3. Preventive maintenance  record
  4. Service station report (fuel, oil and lubricants)
  5. Daily operator in spec or report
  6. Operator report of equipment deficiency.

Standard forms for these reports are printed by many printers suppliers of business forms.
