Thereafter, in Unit you were told about the manner of selecting and planning construction equipment and their matching. Various sources of financing the construction equipment were also discussed in previous unit. 

Apart from the topics covered in previous units of this block, the overall management of equipment handling is an important activity of a construction site. It covers maintaining of spare parts inventory, sock planning, and various aspects of maintenance management etc. In this unit, you will learn about these aspects of management of construction equipment. 

Objectives 

After studying this unit, you should be able to 

• explain equipment management  organisation and equipment management information service, 
• discuss the various aspects of spare parts inventory and its management covering availability of spare parts and interchangeability of spare parts, 
• describe ABC analysis of stock planning, 
• assess the economic life of an equipment and performer replacement  analysis, 
• understand he necessity of maintenance  management, and discuss its principal aspects and methods of maintenance and 
• appreciate the importance of inspection and maintenance program.
