Interchangeability of Spare Parts

Primary manufacturers produce air systems, axles, brake systems, differentials, hydraulic systemic components, transmissions, etc. for diesel engines. Most manufacturers of equipment buy a considerable portion of these to meet their requirement of parts and assemblies for the main equipment. Similarly, primary manufacturers produce items of spare parts such as bearings, belts, bolts and nuts, filters, gaskets, seals and the like. These identical components are used in various types of makes and models of machines and so these components can be interchanged between a number of machines ruled common stock of spare parts can be used on several equipment. But there arises another difficulty. The interchangeability of the parts cannot be easily established because each manufacturer gives a different number of the spare in his catalogs. Manufacturers of the original equipment, public and private agencies should compile .the list of interchangeable parts. When a user has such information,  he call reduce his story of spare parts, and use the available items to his best advantage in bringing sick machines to a working condition. In USA, some manufacturers of primarily equipment, publish master uncatalogued which indicate.for each item of manufacture, the make and motel of machines on which the particular item could be used. The user will find such lists very useful.

If most of the imported spare parts can be manufactured in the project workshop or within the country, it will be possible to reduce considerably  the inventory of spare parts.
